In 2023 and 2024, I began an important project to upgrade an old ASP.Net form-based application to a more modern architecture using .Net API and React JS. This process involved careful planning, precise execution, and a thorough grasp of both the existing system and the newest technologies available.
A banking client in The Netherlands needed to transfer all their on-site .NET form-based applications to Microsoft Azure. The difficulty lay in the fact that these applications were developed using older versions of the .NET Framework, which weren’t compatible with Microsoft Azure anymore. Therefore, the task was to update these applications to use modern technologies like .NET Core or the latest .NET Framework, along with a contemporary user interface framework or library such as React JS.
To overcome these obstacles, we developed a comprehensive solution centered around transitioning the application to a modern framework using .Net API and React JS. This encompassed not only rewriting the code but also rethinking the overall architecture and design approach. By making the use features of .Net API and React JS, our goal was to ensure the application’s longevity while improving its performance, scalability, and ease of maintenance. We guided the client throughout the entire migration and transformation process and successfully moved the application to Microsoft Azure.
