Magento 2+NetSuite
A custom integration layer for B2B e-commerce
Maven Infotech designed and developed a custom Magento 2–NetSuite integration layer to connect the two systems while keeping ERP communication isolated from Magento’s core functionality.

Overview
A B2B supplier runs its webshop on Magento 2 and its business on NetSuite ERP. As the business grew, the two systems had to work as one.
The integration needed to support B2B rules, customer relationships and ERP-driven processes, without letting ERP communication slow down the storefront.

The challenge
Two platforms, different data structures and B2B rules
Connecting Magento 2 with NetSuite involved more than simply transferring data between two platforms.
The integration had to keep customers, B2B accounts, products, attributes, pricing, orders, contacts and delivery information aligned between the two systems.
Different data structures in Magento and NetSuite
Customer-specific B2B relationships and ERP-driven pricing
Order validation before data reaches the ERP
Large data volumes and error handling
ERP calls that must never block a customer waiting in the browser
The integration therefore needed a structured architecture that could handle ERP communication without making the Magento storefront dependent on every NetSuite operation.
The solution
A dedicated integration layer
Maven Infotech developed a dedicated integration layer between Magento 2 and NetSuite instead of placing ERP-specific logic throughout the Magento application.

How it works
What the integration layer takes care of
Connecting customers and B2B accounts
Customer and company information is mapped between Magento and the corresponding NetSuite customer and account records. This includes customer accounts, B2B relationships, contacts, customer-specific information and ERP account references, keeping the data required by both platforms aligned.

Synchronising products from NetSuite
Product information from NetSuite is transformed into Magento’s catalogue structure. This includes product information, SKUs, attributes, availability-related information and ERP identifiers, keeping the webshop catalogue aligned with the ERP.

Supporting ERP-driven B2B pricing
B2B customers can have different pricing relationships based on their accounts and products. The integration transfers pricing information from NetSuite to Magento based on the required customer and product relationships, allowing the webshop to display customer-specific prices while NetSuite remains the source of the underlying commercial information.

Validating orders before ERP transmission
Before Magento orders are sent to NetSuite, the integration validates customer existence, product identifiers, required order information, B2B account relationships and relevant customer and order data. Failed synchronisations are logged and handled through the project’s defined error-handling process so integration issues can be identified and addressed before affecting downstream ERP processing.

Connecting order and delivery contacts
Different people may be responsible for ordering and receiving goods, so the Magento checkout captures separate order contact and delivery contact information. These details are transferred to dedicated fields on the corresponding NetSuite order, giving the ERP the contact information required to process the order correctly.

Keeping ERP work away from the storefront
Non-critical ERP operations were moved to scheduled and background processing, while Magento cron jobs and background processes handle suitable integration tasks outside the customer’s immediate request. Related records are sent in batches to make large synchronisation processes more efficient and keep ERP work away from customer-facing requests.

This was part of the same platform work that cut B2B quote submission from 30–40 seconds to about 5 seconds.
The integration created a more structured connection between Magento 2 and NetSuite, with clear responsibilities for commerce and ERP operations.

Need Magento 2 and NetSuite integration?
A reliable Magento 2 NetSuite integration needs more than API connectivity. It needs the right approach to data mapping, B2B pricing, order validation, background processing and ERP communication.
Maven Infotech can help businesses design and develop Magento–NetSuite integrations that connect e-commerce and ERP processes without unnecessarily affecting the storefront.
